Vaught's Views: Patterson's mom says no decision on NBA has been made yet: AMNews.com (http://www.amnews.com/stories/2010/04/08/uks.731931.sto - broken link)

Wow - I am surprised the Danville (KY) Advocate Messenger hasn't got firebombed yet for printing this

A quote from the article:

" I am very upset with all this because the statement Patrick gave to DeWayne, he didn’t know it was being released tonight.’ Tywanna Patterson also tried to call coach John Calipari, but he did not return her phone call.

“Me personally, I think it is Cal’s way to get recruits to commit and wants to make sure they know John (Wall), DeMarcus (Cousins), Daniel (Orton) and Eric (Bledsoe) are gone along with Patrick,” Tywanna Patterson said. “Pat didn’t know they were sending that statement out tonight.”

I see where she's coming from. His draft stock isn't going to be that high. I am not sure of UK's recruiting class, but i think he might have a bigger role on the team this year w/out all of the other guys. I don't think next years class will be as strong as this years and that he might get picked higher if he stays another year and gets his degree.

Patrick's mom has always been vocal about her son. As for Patrick, he made the correct decision to go now. With his degree in hand, his education goal has been met.

With the possibility of a lockout and a new contract that is reported to reduce the payment to rookies, he is doing the right thing.

I think he will do just fine. I have liked the way he played the game since seeing him in the state tournament as a freshman.
