So the Garden District, Southdowns, Brightside, and Highland from Parker to Lee are really ugly, run down, or just a big highway.

I see.

You honestly expect a comprehensive list of everything Baton Rouge has to offer? No. It is not our job to take four hours out of our day to make a list that would be so so long. Plenty plenty plenty of interesting things have been mentioned in the preceding pages of this thread.

Or come to town and pick up one of the entertainment magazines such as 225 that can be found in most businesses.

I'm pretty sure you don't want to make a comprehensive list of everything interesting in Houston. So why would you ask somebody here to do that?

Please don’t say anything and you’re not sure about it. When you write something you have to provide evidence so we can believe you. It will not take you 10 minutes to remember those places if there are. I might be wrong

I can give a list of places in Houston if you’re interested.

No you're just a lazy troll. I have no interest in speaking with somebody who did not take the time to read the preceding pages.

GFY.

Actually I do understand. I have yet to spend time in any state capital that did not bore me out of my mind. These are business/government driven towns that offer little in the way of entertainment, or things, for real people to do.

When presented with these situations if you are bored you make your own entertainment. I personally like to explore - which is why I love Louisiana.

It is not that we are bored and every day we just sit around and do nothing because there's nothing to do here. This is just a typically boring city because the activities and entertainment is not really all that fun. I've said it MANY times that the bars are absolutely horrible. You can hardly find any live music that isn't a cover band except for one place, the Varsity. The best restaurant is places like the Chimes and other sports bars or national chains that can be found everywhere else in America. There are never any new restaurants on the cutting edge scene with new ideas, it's usually all the same concepts. There are no neighborhoods that serve as destinations where one can drive to and spend the whole day. There is a possibility of downtown being a place like this but it's really only a couple blocks and that's it. There is no "entertainment district" which young people usually flock to as one can get dinner, go see a movie, go out to a bar, go to a live comedy show all in one area.

Again, this does NOT NOT NOT mean that I cannot entertain myself and I am so bored and lonely sitting in my room all day. I have a fun life I just seek more than doing the same old thing every day.

But, in terms of young people, there is stuff to do but the quality is not on par with most other cities. Obviously, people do live here, and so do I, and I have fun all the time. But, I still regularly lament the fact that the entertainment scene is horrible. The bar scene is overcrowded, full of rude people, same old crappy music. There are not that many good restaurants to go out and have a good time at. There are no places to walk around. Yes, you have parks with walking trails, but you have to drive to get there. I've always wondered how people in Baton Rouge walk their dogs. Like I said, obviously there are things to do here, but it's just not a great place for young people. I'm not really sure what facebook has to do with saying there is nothing to do, either.

But, anyway, it's not that BR is boring or people will always be bored. It's just that the offerings are not on par with other cities that draw young people.
Then again, this is only my opinion. There are plenty of people who thin BR is so much fun.
I have spoken with many people at work(I work with students from all over the country) about 'walkable" cities and no body knows of any "walkable" cities except New york City and a few small towns...people walk their dogs in their neighborhoods generally. A city is just to big and spread out to be able to walk everywhere-that is just a thing of the past I think. it is not like the "mayberry Days' where there was a corner store and everyone knew each other etc...you do have to drive to get anywhere, but that is the case in the 6 cities I have lived in.
