It's not that bad, I'd live downtown. Downtown Lafayette is lacking, but has good potential. It's already an attraction.

What's there to regret? Downtown is a fun-zone. Only thing it really needs is a closer grocery store.

I decided to sign a lease at Lake Towers. Whatever happens, I am stuck downtown for a year. I I have to agree with MetroBTR, the biggest disadvantage to living downtown is the lack of grocery stories.

Closest full-size store (in a safe area) is probably Calandro's on Government. He will have Capitol Grocery within walking distance to tide him over between big shopping trips, but will have to go elsewhere for the big trips.

If ever the pending mixed-use developments do get built along Nicholson, I expect to see a full-service grocery store pop up along there. I heard talk of converting the existing St. Vincent de Paul Warehouse just south of the bridge into a grocery store.

Time will tell.

So I am set to move in on the 15th of July. Now I need to decide what type of internet I want. Looks like the closest Walmart is on La Highway in Port Allen followed by the one on College?
