We are all in our 30's. With the exception of my little brother who is turning 21 in September. I am bringing him along with the big boys as his 21st b-day present.

No doubt thats a big one. Just didn't want to make the trip to Bama. Actually, the plan was to see that same game last year in Baton Rouge, but we had to shift dates when my one buddy decided to make his wife pregnant and due that same weekend.

Plus all of us developed a nice hatred for Auburn this past season... so it will be nice to see them get thumped in Tiger Stadium.

Where are you all staying ? If you are staying dowtown I would probably just stay downtown around 3rd street. You are a little old for tigerland, but you may want to send your little brother in for some fun. I am in my mid thirties. If you like trying different beers I would go to the bulldog. It is pretty cool. After that go down to the underpass. You have zee zees, ivars, duviks, and Chelseas. Chelseas normally has a pretty good band going on and their food is pretty good. Other places to try out would be walkons and chimes. For food I would suggest Chimes, Parrains, Sammy's Grill on highland, Acme Oyster Bar, Mike Andersons, and there are many others. All those places have websites if you want to get an idea of where and what they are.

Airplane... you are the man. GREAT info.

We are staying at the Marriott Courtyard. Acadian Center? Any feedback on that place? Does this change any of your suggestions?

Thanks again. You have all been very helpful! I cant wait to taste the food... drink the beer... and enjoy the traditions.

You are really close to Acme, The Bulldog, Parrains, Chelsea's Cafe and the other bars under the under pass. Also close by is Happy Note and Uncle Earls. You are also pretty much on top of Blue Coyote. I haven't been there, but it is supposed to be an ok place. Don't drink and drive in that area. They always have check points set up there.
If you want to venture out a little further you can go downtown. There are a couple of river boat casinos and then a bunch of bars and restaurants around third street all with in walking distance of each other. They have a free concert series downtown that is at the end of third street Live After Five, Downtown Baton Rouge's Greatest Live Music Concert Series it looks like there is something scheduled for that Friday night. They sell beer and snacks and you are 100 yards from all the bars and restaurants. (Actually they were rebuilding the area that it normally is in the spring so I am not sure if it is will move back in the fall or not. Even at its temp location it is near.)
If you want to be on or near campus then go to chimes or walkons. It isn't that far from where you are staying. Tigerland (Reggies, Fred's, and some other bars) is also near campus, but it normally is a very young crowd.

Tailgaiting @ LSU is definitely an experience. I don't they are included in 'ratings' because its so far up the bell curve. I think they start Thursday afternoon. Just walk around and be friendly. I did that with 7 friends and they had a blast. There is some great food prepared out there. But you will be on your second drunk of the day by gametime. (I wouldnt wear AU colors BTW).

My recommendation, Earl, is to go to The Pastime on Nicholson north of campus AFTER the game. The place will be rockin'. Order the Roast Beef Po Boy.

Friday night you could sample one of the 100 or so different kinds of beers and ales they have at The Londoner on Sherwood Forest Blvd.
