Well...I'm still waiting to see if I've been offered a job in East Baton Rouge (fingers crossed).

I think, I'm looking to move *somewhere* between Lafayette and Baton Rouge as my partner in crime wants to attend school in Lafayette.

Does anyone have any information about the frequency of home owners associations in this (rather broad) area? I'd be moving from South Florida, and here it seems *every* house is in some sort of psycho association. I'd rather not move into an association, so just wondering if that's possible/probable?

My experience here in BR is that in the older neighborhoods, the HOAs (if they have them) aren't quite as uptight as they are in the newer subdivisions. This can be good and bad. Good from the standpoint you don't have a nanny with clipboard recording every violation, but bad if you have someone who doesn't care about keeping the house presentable.
