Do not say negative things about Baton Rouge. Even if you think it is constructive criticism, do not say it. It really upsets the natives and they can't let it go.
The only luck I have had in meeting other singles in Baton Rouge is through friends. I haven't really met any at the bars here. I will not go to church just so I can meet someone. If you find that magical place where the single scene is at in Baton Rouge let me know.

Granted this is a college town but I have passed the age of dating college students. I am not religious but have been to church a few times and have never seen any young single men. I have been to the local bars but have only met guys looking for flings. I'm not full of myself but I think I am reasonably attractive and I do get those looks, stares and smiles when I am out and about but no one with the courage enough to come up to me and chat.

Few of my girlfriends have moved to other states after being frustrated with the dating scene over here. But I would like to know if I can have any luck without having to scrape the bottom of the barrel. I don't wanna give up on baton rouge that easily.

My career involves a lot of overtime so I cannot spend all my evenings and weekends going man hunting. Any tips will be appreciated from someone who has been in my situation. And if you happen to be a guy I described about don't hesitate to hit me up.

Thanks!
Good luck finding a guy that wants more than a fling that is in your age range.

I'm an example of a native Louisianian that just moved out of Baton Rouge this year and into San Antonio... I miss Louisiana and most of my friends and family are there, but yeah it's not easy to find a really good job opportunity there in IT, at least not for me. I had jobs, but they all just went nowhere and paid next to nothing, so I unfortunately had to get out. But, I wish the best of luck to ya and hope BR's job situation gets better!

ktulu7 -- I hope you're enjoying SAT. I was there for 20 years before I moved to BTR 2.5 years ago. Let me know if you need any tips on the city -- I love SAT!

You reasoning to go to church shouldn't be to meet a mate, but to show love for your Redeemer. It just so happens that someone that shares the same love for Christ will be someone that lives their lives in a manner that God calls us to.

You're in the wrong town. Come on over to Lafayette, as we are plentiful.

Wow, interesting thread you guys have going on. It turned from single men in Baton Rouge (to author: is race a factor for you?), to the restoration of BR.

Me personally, I'm also a 26 year old guy, single, and I have been out of Baton Rouge for 8 years now. I definitely made my way around the country twice by now, and to not "offend" anyone, I'll keep my opinion in Baton Rouge to myself since I'm brand new to this board and don't want to build a bad reputation. But I will make a quick jab and say, that's one of the problems with the city in general, I feel people should be allowed to say whatever the heck they want to. lol. Just agree or disagree, and keep it moving.

Anyways. I graduate and finish my training in Chicago this year, and I plan on taking a job in Baton Rouge next year and I've kinda wondered to myself about how the dating scene is. For both men and women, from a young professionals standpoint... any guys want to help me out with this?

Two years ago, before moving to BTR, I found this board and posted the same question about dating. I got a zillion responses about DWI and drinking in general. The topic just took off on a negative vein. Not sure what that's all about but I have learned it's the way the BTR site goes. I've looked at other cities and see nothing like this.
