My husband and I are looking to buy a home in BR ASAP. We have narrowed the search down to a few subdivisions (mainly in the Shenandoah area), but still have a few concerns. Does anyone know how often the area south of Tiger Bend floods? We recently became interested in the Homestead and Round Oak Subdivisions (off Old Jefferson near Highland) but are concerned because they are in a "flood zone" whereas other areas we were looking at were not. Have these areas recently flooded? Does anyone know the risk of flooding in this area or the crime rate? Thanks!

I live near that area off of Antioch. It doesn't flood unless we get like days and days of rain non stop. you should be good. I hope y'all find a good house, glad y'all are moving here.

How bad of flooding are you talking about? Just some water on the streets, or enough where you can't drive? Has your home ever flooded/had flood damage? Thanks for the advice!

I've been living in that area for almost a decade. Never seen it flood other than some water on the streets.

Hi,
I've lived in Shenandoah for 22 yrs. and I have seen water pool up on Tiger Bend, mostly near Woodlawn Middle and Elliot road. I've seen water come up very high on Elliot and in some subdivisions around Tiger Bend. Many of the houses are built on hills or are up high. Have you a realtor? I would call one and ask that question. How about Shenandoah itself? Very nice neighborhood, and I have not seen flooding here. Water can pile up in the street, but I am not aware of any flooding. Several years ago, I think maybe 1985, water got into some of the houses in White Oak Landing. It will be very interesting to see what happens after Tropical Storm LEE.
