It wasn't a rhetorical question . I would like for you to be more specific .
" common goals " and " greater good " sound like something you hear from a politician .

i feel as Baton Rouge grows into a larger metro in coming decades, branding may help the national id.

Examples of large city county combos acros the country are.
L.A. County, CA., Dallas County TX., Miami-Dade county FL.,
. These counties are home to the central city and suburban governments and school districts . The County of St Louis and St. Louis City are seprerate but considering a meger.

Miami isn't consolidated in Dade County. Consolidation won't do anything but make us the largest city in LA, nothing beneficial economic-wise. Parish consolidation isn't branding, it's broadening the tax base and giving the city more responsibilities.

Neither is Dallas or Los Angeles. Dallas just happens to be in Dallas County and L.A. happens to be in L.A. County. I'm assuming that keta_mae is trying to point out how Dade county residents voted to change the name to Miami-Dade to get more recognition from outside South Florida. St. Louis city exists separately from St. Louis county if I'm not mistaken. Like, it's not in a county at all.

I'm a little lost because I don't know if we're just talking about simply renaming East Baton Rouge Parish to Baton Rouge Parish or if we're talking about actually consolidationg government and services.

If we are talking about changing the name, what difference would it make?

None, and I don't see how consolidation providing anything but more tax payers and more distrust of city-parish and state government.
