Speaking of surpassing metro populations, does anyone see Shreveport passing up Baton Rouge? It's a larger percentage of growth but only 3-400k as opposed to about 5-600k once it's all said and done.

One is growing out and the other is growing in, if that makes sense.
It does....

City population definitely is a larger chance. I feel that Shreveport has the bones and industries to do it, it just isn't booming.

I hope it never happens . The infrastructure can't support it and the money isn't there to improve it . Yeah , yeah , somebody will come along and say it's because the voters won't approve any new taxes . We've been down that road many times .

You don't want the city to grow? If infrastructure never improved it would still be 1920 in Baton Rouge and 1960 in Central.

Since it seems to be only a matter of decades before Baton Rouge leaves the Little Rock-Jackson-Montgomery tier and moves into the Austin-Memphis-New Orleans-Nashville tier population wise how do you all feel that Baton Rouge ranks in terms of amentities. Does it offer what and feel like you think an area of 800,000 people should? That sixth 0 is right aroundthe corner, it's just a matter of time.

The area could use better mass transit and air connections to other regions of the country. But having NOLA about an hour away helps and hinders metro Baton Rouge to bolster its national and global ID.
