New to town and needing a place to rent near BRCC. I have been looking at West Chimes Place becuase I need to stay around $350-$400. I am a college student that goes to school and comes home. Not looking for a party type house or anything shady. Needing something clean and safe. Anyone know anything about this area or can you recommend anything? I dont want to make a mistake and be stuck! Thanks

the west chimes i am looking at is at nicholson and aster. I dont mind trashy, considering you get what you pay for. gangs and violenceis what im looking to stay away from. I saw the trashiness in my visit around the complex, but it didnt seem scary in any way. I also wenty back at 10 pm last night and there wass nobody outside at all, much quiter than the mid-city neighborhood im in now.

I suggest You stay away from there, that is the highest crime area in south BR.I just moved from violet and nicholson one blockover. My family built there in 1945 and We finnally just had to move because of the crime. This is My knowledge of the area and just My Opinion. If that is where You have to move just be aware of Your surroundings and be carefull,You can live in that area without trouble but it takes a lot awarness. This area is also a big drug area. I wish You luck where ever You move .

You won't find anywhere "safe" in your price range

For that low price range you won't find a single place in Baton Rouge (much less near LSU) that is remotely safe. Find a roomie.

Stay far away from West Chimes Place. It's really slummy...just don't even bother.

You can get a decently livable 2 bedroom for $800/month, so go the roommate route.
