Smile Another possible relocation to BR Area thread...

I'm interviewing for a job in BR soon. I'm just trying to get my ducks in a row if I do get the job. I'm a 26 year old male. The job would be around Thomas Road and 19. Looking for a low crime, decent area with a pretty short commute. Apartments are fine for me, and the Zachary/Baker Area looks like slim pickings on an apartment. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Yikes. That is near the zoo and the airport, right? That area is not a low crime, decent area by any stretch of the imagination. Stay far away from North BR unless you want to live in the ghetto.

How about giving us more info. Rent/own? Price range?

Looking to rent for now. And yes it is pretty close to the zoo. Would like to stay in the 600-1000 range for an apartment. Would be relocating from Starkville, MS.

well you won't find anything safe for $600 bucks. Especially in north Baton Rouge. Expect renter and sale shock when you move to BR when it comes to renting and buying.

Personally since you are going to be working up there I would suggest the Zachary area. I'm not that familiar with Zachary so I'll let someone else help you out.

That's kinda what I figured, but it was worth a shot. Zachary is what I've seen posted a lot here for North BR. Guess cost of living is little bit higher there too.
