I remember when we had a string of robberies happening around Bocage. I didn't feel unsafe then, but I was on guard. It's a big city. Be on guard. It's not like some small town where every kid walks down the street to the local school, church or neighborhood pool. (Well maybe a lot still do, but it's not Mayberry if you get my point.) It's a big city. The more people you put together, the more likely you'll find someone that isn't a very nice person. The law of averages. But just because we have not-so-nice people here, doesn't mean that you'll ever actually run into them or that they'll mess with you.
You want to talk about a capital city with more scary areas per capita, check out Jackson, MS. I wouldn't want to live in that city, except maybe in the northeast corner north of Lakeland Dr., east of I-55 and up to the reservoir.

BRMAN: I know two people that own multiple units on Jennifer Jean and I spoke to one of them this AM and several of His Duplex' have been broken into and He was telling Me about another land lord that I know was having problems also.I don't understand Your comment about that "Hardly a representation of how safe BR is."Also I am stating facts I here from honest people. Folks as a reminder
Our opinions on a location or issue are just that, opinions. Highly subjective. Personal preferences. Quirks, even. Leave wiggle room for dialogue, others may not see things the same as you, or been there as long as you, and any one of us can be wrong. Pouncing on someone you disagree with runs contrary to the spirit of this board and its members. We are here to help each other.

Thank you for your feedback. However, I disagree with your perspective - you have told us that you live in an area north of LSU that everyone in BR knows isn't the safest. Yet you project these personal experiences in a known questionable area against all of Baton Rouge.
As to your remarks, I'll take the high road and encourage you to look at the bigger picture. All of Baton Rouge isn't like the area north of LSU. Or North Baton Rouge, Or Gardere. Or Blvd De Provence.
Have a nice day !

I never said they were. What perspective do You disagree with?I Have not said that all of BR is like the area I live in.But You dispute what I said about JENNIFER JEAN just because You have not heard about it.Since You read the paper a lot You should realize that they do not print info. on all robberies are even Rapes so does this mean they don't happen? You seem to not want to really discuss this issue.I have plenty to say but You just want to listen to You and not address what I say.

Thanks for your response, but I'll repeat what I said above:

Before the Chicken Littles descend upon us and wail about how horrible Baton Rouge is, I thought I'd beat em to the punch and tell it like it is. You see, yesterday, there was a murder. In a part of town you wouldn't want to be in anyway. And an area we NEVER recommend to newcomers. The article is below - feel free to draw your own conclusions

There was also a store on Coursey Blvd. Robbed very nice part of BR. and two lawn mowing services were robbed while moving for the white rich folks in a nice area. But those don't count.Anyone with half a brain knows that Byron St. is in the bad area of town. What is so hard about understanding that there are the real bad areas of BR which most people already know to stay out of but crimes take place throught the city just not everyday ad usually not murders but crime is alive and well in BR.Why do thhink the sales of fire arms has increased along with CWP(CONCELED WEAPON PERMITS)?

So you think BR is unsafe and getting worse. Great. I believe otherwise. And don't live my life in fear, other than to take the standard precautions I'd take if I were in a rural area.
Oh, and by the way, depending on where on Coursey this supposed incident occured, I would not have been surprised.
