I know this is an old thread but Ascension Parish may be where I am going to end up with my job search going on now. Can anyone comment anything about the public high schools in Gonzales (Ascension Parish)? Thanks.

Some of the better ones, Dutchtown is the best public school in the parish and one of the best in the MSA. It's growing by leaps and bounds, I'm an alum.

Ascension is ranked 3rd in the state for schools. Of course there are a few schools with problems but most of them are excellent. Depending on where you live the high schools are Dutchtown High, St. Amant High, East Ascension High. All are good schools with lots of parental and community support and lots of clubs and team sports for students. I'd probably rank them in that order. Dutchtown is the newest of the three and was built after the big boom of new residents. East Ascension is in the center of Gonzales and St. Amant is a little more country. Greatschools.org gives both St. Amant and Dutchtown a ranking of 8 and East Ascension a 5. (I didn't even mention Donaldsonville High b/c I don't know anyone who would purposely move to Donaldsonville). You can always call the schools and request a tour of the campus and if you find a home you are interested in you can go to Ascension Parish Schools, type in the address and see what school it is zoned to. Hope that helps!
