Thanks for the input!
Do you have any suggestions for subdivisions around Highland - we are looking for a 4 bedroom (have small kids) and don't want to spend more than 325.
thanks again

With a 325K cap, there are a few, but not, a lot of subdivisions I think are decent. But here goes from the LSU South Gates:
Plantation Choice
Kenilworth
Iberville Terrace
I'll expand the net a little wider and throw in some Perkins subdivisions:
Concord Estates: word of warning: this is a black neighborhood, but it's black professionals and is so centrally located, I think it's worth a look, because you have a fair number of houses 2500 sf and up that are decently priced
Pollard Estates
Wimbledon
Overton Dr and Peggy Street off Moss Side Lane (sorry, can't remember the subdivision name)

In fact, there was a BR Business Report article recently talking about hiw Kenilworth was historically "unsexy" because it wasn't the latest and greatest, and it wasn't the garden district either. But you can get a 20-40 year old home and fix it up to your taste, if harvest gold isn't your idea of style.

Sam I Am, surely you've figured it out by now that I'm not a real estate agent. Go back and read all of my posts. What's the point of someone coming here and asking questions if you're going to jump on anything we say that "might" be considered advertising.
Those of us from the area are simply trying to help those who are not.

Fairhill is fairly new and nice. I'd be cautious about possible flooding (which is an issue for ANY subdivision between Bayou Fountain and the Miss River). Plus, the Bluebonnet traffic has gotten pretty nasty with all the subdivisions they've put up along that road.
Parkknoll place is a decent subdivision. Slight concerns about (1) the Sherwood/Coursey traffic, (2) apartments on Old Jefferson (which I think are rent subsidized), and (3) some less than well kept up duplexes on Old Jefferson.

No, Cindy, I can't be sure of that, although I believe you!
You can give neighborhoods. You can give general info. You can name schools that are better or worse than others as long as you don't pick individuals and discuss what you do or don't like, or what they did or didn't do...but you cannot give links to realtor sites. And realtors can't hustle business behind the scenes, it's pretty simple. If you have information that could benefit someone, then Direct Message them. That's why the Administrator put that feature in place.
I am only the messenger, but there is no advertising on City Data per the Terms of Service. I'm enforcing a rule. If this is a problem, please approach the Administrator about it, but it's plainly stated for us that realtor links will be deleted. It's not an advertising site and it's not a consumer complaint forum. Past that, we're all good. Most of the time.
Terms of Service - City-Data Forum
In case anyone has any doubt, this would be the part of the Terms of Service that applies. I think it is self explanatory.
Free classified ads are available: Classified Ads - City-Data Forum: Relocation, Moving, Local City Discussions. They are only to be used by individuals, no commercial firms. No ads of any sort in other forums.
Real Estate Agents and other businesses will not advertise their services nor solicit business in their posts. Create a free business profile by going to Business Profile Addition and fill out your forum profile instead. Do not include links to your websites, MLS listings, etc. in your posts. Do not try to push the envelope by attempting to hide your intentions. Do not solicit business by PMs. Show your knowledge about the area and help people and you will get leads naturally. Real estate agents should join the usergroup for them here: http://www.city-data.com/forum/profi...editusergroups. It will set your user title and add an icon next to your name, so you will get free advertising with your posts.

Sounds contradictory to me. "Real Estate Agents and other businesses will not advertise their services nor solicit business in their posts" BUT you allow them to "create a free business profile" that gives them "free advertising with posts."
BTW, thanks for mentioning the Direct Message link. I completely forgot about that.

Green Trails - If this is the subdivision that was developed from the defunct Shenandoah golf course, I'm not a big fan of this, because Jones Creek traffic is bad, and I see Shenandoah starting to decline because parts of it are 30+ years old and are near some seedy duplexes and apartments.
Again, depending on where yiou live, why not look at subdivisions in the Highland/Perkins corridor ? There's a mixture of old and new, city and suburban. And you mostly don't have apartments popping up left and right.

I agree with all of this person's comments. I love Woodridge subdivision and feel that it is only going to get better this end of town!!
