Default Commute to LSU?

Does anyone know how traffic is along Hwy 30 from Gonzales to LSU? I will be dropping my husband off at work in that area at 8:00 a.m. and continuing to LSU. I have heard horror stories of how bad the traffic is on I-10 starting at Siegen Lane into downtown BR. I have to be to LSU no later than 9:45 a.m.

I also noticed on the map that Highland and Perkins both end up on or near LSU campus, but I think there are probably more traffic lights that direction. Is that correct?

Please advise if any of you are familiar with these routes. Thanks...

Easily 30-45 minutes from Gonzales to LSU. As an altrenative, you can take LA 30 from Gonzales to LSU. La 30 becomes Nicholson when it enters East Baton Rouge Parish. The trip would likely take 30 minutes, with some traffic at the W. Lee/Brightside light.

And, yes, Highland has some lights. It also badly backs up between College/W. Lee and the south gates of LSU. Perkins goes near LSU, and has more lights and nasty traffic, especially between Congress Dr. and Acadian.

If you live in East Iberville or Ascension (and relatively close to LA-30) then that's the way to go. The drive isn't that long once you get used to it.
I'd call it a tossup if you live in Prairieville. I'd only consider if there was a major accident on the I-10.
Also you can exit I-10 at Highland Road and run Highland north to Burbank/Siegen. Then you can take Burbank all the way into campus.

Thanks to you both. I think that Hwy 30 will work right now, but if we do move to Prairieville (as we may well do), the Burbank route sounds like a good idea.
