Default Bugs in Baton Rouge?

This may sound like a silly question, but I am moving to Baton Rouge later this summer and would like to know whether I should expect to deal with bugs inside the house, especially cockroaches?

Yes. Roaches are a fact of life in LA. I particularly hated the flying ones that would dive-bomb you from the light fixtures when it rained hard and they came inside..

Yup. Bugs are a part of life in most of the south. Hopefully you don't have to deal with a roach infestation, but do expect to see at least a handful over the course of the year. You shouldn't see them all the time unless there really is a problem. Depending on your situation and location, you might have to deal with some spiders (usually small) and or ants. Silverfish seem to be the biggest issue at my place.
Trust me, they aren't half as bad in the city as they are if you're living "down-the bayou". Then you get to see super sized cockroaches and spiders.

I haven't had a roach problem at my house. I have little tiny sugar ants that come clean up my kitchen counters for me during the summer months, though. It really is pretty thoughtful of them. Sometimes we get big spiders in the house, but they don't try to get into the house, they just end up there sometimes when the door gets left open. Pretty sure they are not poisonous. We keep a pretty clean house, so I don't think bugs like it very much since there isn't many hiding places for them.

If you don't want bugs in the house you need to have an exterminator come on a regular basis-bugs in Louisiana are as normal and natural in south Louisiana as the heat and humidity.

I live just outside of BR in Prarieville.. I'll be honest with you.. Cockroaches are nasty little critters.. The smaller ones I call the German Roaches.. and the bigger ones that can fly.. Palmetto Roaches.. They can get in your house in many diff ways.. One way is if they get into someting you bought at the grocery store.. If you see one.. Kill it quick.. they multilpy fast.. Keep food up, and in tightly sealed containers.. They love to come out at night when the lights go out.. If you dont control them they will control you.. I have learned that the hard way.. I keep roach bait and traps down in all my cabnets and shelves.. They are very hard to get rid of once you get them in ur house..
