Default Homeless in Baton Rouge

Anyone know of any``safe´´ places to sleep at night for a week or so till I establish some form of human contact in Baton Rouge. I do not have the resources for a hotel and my prior knowledge of BR is zero. Please help with your recommendations. God Bless to all. Sincerely, Fred

Office of Community Development

I am homeless, where can I go for help?

There are several places in Baton Rouge for you if you are homeless. There are shelters for families living together, single individuals (men and women), battered women, the mentally ill, persons with alcohol and substance abuse problems. You may call the Community Development Office at 389-3039 to find out the shelter that meets your need. And a list of homeless shelters at: http://www.doe.state.la.us/Lde/uploads/1671.pdf

Freddy, exactly what are you headed to BR for? So far, all I get is that you're looking for a psychic, Trump Clubs, and a woman named Sophie, not necessarily in that order...I suppose I've missed something again but this doesn't appear to be the optimal time for this endeavor if you have no funds for a hotel and no idea of where you are headed. You apparently are not in Baton Rouge at this time?

Default Greetings from California....

I know it's been some time now since you posted but for those viewing this thread I'm posting the information I have.

We have 7 residential programs for the homeless and low-income in Baton Rouge. All which accept single adults. Please click on the following link to view the listings I'm refering to:

These sites have been great in detailing shelters in BR and LA and even who they serve. Many are available for battered women, singles, even families. Best wishes!

Goodwood library does. Most phones do now. You can get laptops really cheap now and finding an open hot spot can be done in about 5-10 minutes.
