I liked Pre-Katrina BR a lot better. I avoid BR like the plague now. Would rather drive the extra distance to Covington to eat, and shop.
And I live in Walker.

Don't be a wet blanket, JuJu. PostKatrina BR is just fine. Didn't you read the question in the title of the post? What do you "LIKE"?

And ? Not trying to browbeat, but Baton Rouge gets a lot of negative feedback from those who don't even want to experience what our humble town has to offer.

I used to enjoy going to BR with my hubby. Now, with the increased crime, and traffic, its not worth my trouble to go past the millerville exit. Only go that far to get to Winners Cycle.
With the exception of Doctors and dentists... in fact I have to go out on BlueBonnet tomorrow. And I will prolly go to that buffet style chinese restaurant across from the Old Comp USA.

Ah, well. At least there was some positivity
Seriously, folks, Baton Rouge is in a metro area of about 700K. There are bad parts, and there are good parts. And, yes, we received some less desirables from New Orleans after Katrina, like the panhandlers that have the franchise on pestering at I-10/Essen, I-10/Siegen, and Siegen by the Target. But all this talk about BR being full of crime is too silly. And as such I'll rebut each and every "Baton Rouge is full of crime" postings.
Now, "Baton Rouge is full of bad traffic" is kind of true, but there are back roads you can take to get around some of that. And the state IS planning to spend $$ to widen I-12 to Denham and I-10 to Siegen.

uggghhhh speaking of crime.... its everywhere... I am sure you watched the news last night... you know the white truck in the ditch, on the mini crime spree..
I passed the truck yesterday, around 1:30 and there was NO ONE around it. And I didnt see any police either. All the way down 1019.
Oh, and it was about 3 miles from my house

BRMan, I think you and I are twins in a previous life! Every time you say something, it is the same thing that is on my mind. C'mon folks, katrina was 3 years ago and this is the way Baton Rouge is now, not much different than before! Traffic was always bad here and really it is not bad on the off times or weekends! Just go to Miami and see how bad the traffic is there,(24/7 bottleneck) then you will see what I mean. It is all relative to what you are used to! I have a friend from Pennsylvania and he says the traffic is nothing here comapred to there, and he said the people here driving in the traffic are much nicer than those in Pa! Now as far as crime, I agree with BRMan again. Crime is up almost everywhere in the US especially due to increase drugs all over. I lived in Florida and the town I lived in was "crime free" until the latin Gangs moved in, now, watch out and lock your doors and windows. So, really the post Katrina BR is not unlike most average cities now! Plus, I am tired of everyone saying how bad BR is! It is a great place to live! Also, I really do not see much panhandling anymore!
