Somewhere onthis forum, I read that: FL Blvd. (or actually a little more South, closer to Government, near downtown) bordered by Airline Hwy on the right hand side until Greenwll Springs and then East is a bad area. When I look at a map, it looks like Airline Hwy is on the left had side. I must not be understanding the layout of the city.
I also read somewhere on here that Ardenwood and Government were OK areas, but the info above said Government was not. I read that the Garden District was good too but then read that there are lots of break ins there.
Let me recap what I have found on here so far and then maybe a few kind citizen's from BR can elaborate for me or correct any mistakes I have or add to my list:
GOOD Areas -
Historic Garden District (?)
Port Allen
Sherwood
Bocage Area
Burbank - near LSU and Mall of Louisiana
Highland area
BAD Areas (already outline above) -
Gardere
Blvd de Provence St
N of FL Blvd - except Central and Zachary

Port Allen is so-so. You either have to live close to the river or well outside of the city to be in decent areas. Port Allen is pretty worn down. Brusly is a lot better choice.
Government Street really isn't that bad. It
is rough between I-110 and about 19th, but otherwise it really isn't that bad. It looks rough, but minus potential breakins that happen in most marginal areas, there isn't much violent crime reported there. Government Street east of Foster is fine. South of there in Capitol Heights is fine as well.
Airline Hwy is basically US Hwy 61 (US190 in some areas as well). Look for that on the map, it should be running north-south.
Everything else you had about areas is pretty accurate.
