Default Possible move to Baton Rouge

Hello All...we are a young couple with 2 children possibly moving to the Baton Rouge area. My husband is being transfered the the Brain Harris BMW dealership if we choose to accept the job. My husband is West Indian and I am Hispanic. I have never been to LA but am worried that we will not fit in and that our children my feel some discrimination. I have looked at all kinds of websites but cannot find out anything on the culture of Baton Rouge...can anyone help?

Don't worry, be happy. Baton Rouge culture is just as heterogeneous as any other city of its size in the country.

I think you would find it friendlier if you stayed in East Baton Rouge Parish. And with where Brian Harris is located now, there are plenty of good subdivisions and/or apartments enarby. There are also some seedy ones - I'd stay away from apartments off of Siegen near the Target and near the railroad tracks. I'm also not crazy about the duplexes/complexes along Southpark Drive off Courset - but you do have a police station at the entrance of that area.
