Default Where do you feel would be an ideal place in Baton Rouge to live because of work...

Hello my friends,

The first quarter of 2009 I might be relocating to Baton Rouge to work as a professional dog trainer. I am doing some research now. Where do think and feel would be an ideal place for me to live. I was born and raised in NYC and I do not have a challenge with city life or traffic. I am looking into and possibly considering... Downtown BR, Zachary, Denham Springs, Westminster and some of the surrounding areas. I would be renting a house or apartment initially. A fenced in back yard is a must. I am a single male with no children. Some of what I do to generate business is go to places and areas where lots of people frequent and work with my dog using advanced obedience skills. IE... The parking lot of Home Depot, Lowes, dog parks, outside or across the street from a Starbucks or busy place people go to eat. I will be doing this for about 10-15 minutes at a time and than going on to my next area. This In do with my wrapped vehicle in the background. Of course I will be going to the college football games parking lots every chance I get. I want to go and be where the money is and where the people are with the money. Anyone and everyone can be a client. I know that Baton Rouge has 3 Home Depots, 3 Lowes, 3 Petsmarts, 1 Petco. Zachary which is more affluent has a Home Depot and a Petco, Denham Springs has the same as Z. I do not have a challenge driving every day to BR if I have to or need to. What do you think and feel are my best places to live?

Thank you

In my opinion, you should live in the Baton Rouge area. Put your focus in the South Baton Rouge area. This is where most of the stores you listed above are located. There are still some decent house rentals available even though the Hurricane Gustov victims scooped lots of them up.

Your poll responses make no sense to me.

Your best bet would be to search in the area west of Burbank on either side of Bluebonnet.

I would make sure that there is actual demand here for your type of work. I imagine there will always be customers for anything, but will it be enough to pay the bills?
Personally, I don't see the demand for traveling dog trainers. And southerners are real particular with going with local establishments and local private families for most of their business. My concern would be that you don't make enough to stay afloat unless you have something else planned to fall back on.
