Don't know for certain, but that's what I heard too. Something about LSU taking a second look at their budget and needs, closing EKL, and using parts of OLOL for those in need. Don't know for certain though. It was on the news here the other night.

Thank you. So what is going to happen with the area around Earl K. Long? Do you think it is going to go down hill since the hospital employs a lot of people?

I honestly don't know. That particular market (health care) will just shift to the next market, possibly OLOL. As to the actual neighborhood, I have no idea.

That area around EKL hasn't ever been particularly good, IMO, with strip clubs and industrial tractor places up and down Airline Hwy near it. YMMV

There will be a new clinic there with extended hours, that will help some, but it will be a downer on the small businesses in the area that catered to hospital staff and patients (i.e. floral shops, restaurants, etc.).

Is that that new building going up just north of Earl K along Airline? I've noticed it on various occassions but did not know what it was going to be used for.
