BTW, Don't forget that you must send your (much higher) Parish taxes to the sheriff by December 30; they'll be considered late on the 31st.
Good point. What I think we seem to forget is that every person no matter where they live seems to complain about the traffic, especially if you have lived in one place for more than say, 15 years. My in laws live in Florida and they remember when...they could drive up the road and it took 20 minutes less 14 years ago. I guess it is the same everywhere, but unless you live in BFE, then we have to put up with it!

Litter is just a part of it. Look at the intersections where piles of rocks have been forming for decades. All it takes is one wrong move and anyone driving through those piles could loose traction. I know the city owns sweepers but they never seem to use them. How about the lawn mowing tractors driving from place to place around town rather than being on trailers? It's obvious any real efforts are limited to particular parts of town while the rest gets ignored.

You are correct. I did receive an a mail from channel 2 news stating they were going to run an article regarding the litter sometime this week but have no idea when. If nothing gets done after that, I will continue to call the Mayor's office until I get an answer as to why Baton Rouge has begun to look like a dump-and nothing has been done about it! Will see what I can do for this fair city!

I see all kinds of folks littering. Just today I saw some young kids toss their Jack in the Box bag on the ground near downtown, then when over on Perkins, I was behind a well-dressed gentleman in a new Lexus that was kind enough to open the door and gently place his litter on the ground. I almost got out of my car, opened his door, and threw it back inside, seriously. Littering drives me crazy! We ought to require some work in trade for unemployment and welfare payments. We have so many people on payroll that could give back to the community.

I wrote the advocate and the reporter told me he was going to run story about litter today. I have to get a paper and see if it is in there. Honestly, I cannot believe people-rich or poor-litter this beautiful town and country! I was brought up to litter in my garbage can-how hard is it to bring the trash home and put it in your own garbage!!!???

Pure laziness and no self respect. At least I leave my crap in the car and then I take it out at home or suck it out with the vacuum cleaner when I go to wash it. It's really not that difficult.
I'm glad The Advocate ran a column.

Default litterbug

The article was really good. I read it today. I also wrote the Keep Baton Rouge Beautiful people and told them about some areas I think need some cleaning by professionals, there are gross things out there. I wish people would take the time to take care of their own trash. I cannot believe that one person said a man actually opened his door and placed his trash on the ground-the nerve. Anyway, thanks for all y'alls support!

I was told by my Moderator cut: removed word stepson that he took his soon to be ex-wifes trash from her nasty house (15 full bags) and drove to an area of someones property and dumped the bags.

I told him what I thought of that and he just smiled. Told him it only costs 10.00/mo to have trash service pick up but said he doesnot have time after work to get there. Told him to just call them but he listens to logic like congress does. I told my wife I will turn him in when I can so he can learn the hard way. This step son is also the star on my thread titled Cat sitter from HELL!!

Good for you to turn him in as he will get a ticket and fine for that. It is people like him that make Baton Rouge ugly> Good Luck with that!
