Looking to tear down a wall that separates LR and DR, wall is 15 ft. Can anyone recommend a structural engineer in the area that is reasonable?

Do you really need a structural engineer to accomplish this? Seems a little much. I would think most carpenters could handle this unless there are other issues involved.

It is a load bearing wall. It is a one level ranch style home.

We have had one contractor to come out and he has suggested that we get a structural engineer first.

I don't think you need all that - we had a cabinet maker knock a hole in a load bearing wall to make a doorway, and all that needed to happen was put some extra bracing over the top of the doorway.
