Default Is Baton Rouge Cycle friendly?

We are from Colorado and avid cyclists, but may be relocating to Baton Rouge. Is it cycle friendly? Are there bike trails? What about the roads, are there bike lanes and polite drivers? Thanks for your imput in advance.

Funny you ask, because I'm a cyclist who belongs to the BR Bike Club.

Is BR cycling friendly ? Not like in Colorado/out West, but we try
Are there bike trails ? If you're into mountain biking, there is one in north BR and you have hilly areas to the north. If you're a road biker like me, there are several places along River Road/Iberville Parish/Ascension Parish/the Felicianas/Tammany Trace
The roads/bike lanes/polite dirvers ? Roads are variable. The places I mentioned have decent roads, but there are rough spots. Some neighborhoods in town have bike lanes, but the quality is so so. As to polite drivers, it depends. I've not had issues, but you have people in town and in the country who don't grasp the concept of cyclists having the same rights as cars do.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions The BR BIke Club's site is here: Baton Rouge Bike Club
