Default Anything between Lafayette and Baton Rouge??

Hi! I'm new to this forum and live in North LA. My husband is going to be going back to school at ULL (Lafayette) in the fall, but it looks like I may be getting a job in Baton Rouge. Is there anywhere in between (that would be about equal distance for us to both drive) where we could find a house or apt to rent?

Thanks!

Well, you have about 20 miles of swamp in between both towns. That means as options you have Henderson/Breaux Bridge in St Martin Parish or Port Allen in West Baton Rouge. From a distance standpoint, Henderson would be a slightly better bet.

Equally as important: where in BR is the job ?

You'll be limited in what you could rent over there in WBR, Iberville and St. Martin as well.
There are new apartments going up on LA-1 in Brusly however, Sugar Mill Plantation I think is the name. Rent didn't seem to bad for those apartments. It'd be a good location for BTR, but you'd still be an hour from LAF. There are subdivisions along Rosedale Rd, west of Port Allen, and various areas along US 190 northwest of the town as well. But after that, I'd look over in St. Martin. There isn't much in between. It's the great divide (the swamp basin between LAF and BTR).

The closest you can get to the "middle" is the Grosse Tete/Rosedale area, but I'd imagine its slim pickins when it comes to rental properties.
