Default July 4th

Planing on going to July 4th celebration downtown this year. We missed last year, but went the year before(when the shooting happened). Now, we had been pre Katrina a few times and loved it. Then we went to the July 4th celebration post Katrina and hated it as there were many undesirables around at that time(no offense to anyone). Was wondering if anyone out there went last year and was it full of "low" life people?

I haven't gone in the last 3 years, but when I went I always viewed from the westbank, in Port Allen or at the locks. Only once I viewed them from the Capitol. If I went again, I'd probably go back to PA. I like having the city in the background anyway.

If I were to go, I'd try to stay near the River and/or the casino, since you're in the safety of the crowds. I also think that the police will be more attentive to "suspicious" people since the shooting incident.
