I just thought about another way you can search if you haven't found it yet, via Greater Baton Rouge Area Realtors website. I will try to send you a PM with the URL. You can tell it to search rentals only and pick the area numbers you are intersted in.

I mam glad you found things helpful. I also wanted to mention, there are many church festivals throughout the year-some in fall and some in spring. If you are a Christian there are about 100 churches in this area that you can attend. If you are Jewish, though, there are only 2 or so synoagoges(sorry about the spelling). Also, there are many dance, gymnastics, Baton Rouge soccer associations, little league for boys and girls and many swim team and swim lessons places like the ymca and Crawfish Aquatics. Welcome and I agree, Coursey is not bad!

I don't know why the person said south is bad!

I was not thinking about out around airline Hwy. but rather just south of the LSU area, sorry for the confusion.

I was relocated to Baton Rouge, for my job, in March. Here are the two things I would suggest:

(1) The Baton Rouge Newcomers Club -- great for moms moving to the area. Most activities are during the work day and several are kid-based
(2) Lucy Huckaba with Keller Williams Red Stick Realtors. She's a relo specialist and continues to be a HUGE help in getting me acclimated to the area.

Good luck.

Default private schools

Before you to BR, you will need to check out the schools. Most people who can afford it sends their children to private schools. Check out the surrounding areas, Central, Denham Springs, Zachary, these cities have good public schools, but you'll have to deal with the traffic.

Also, remember, just because the schools are better it does not mean the kinds of people that attend them are better. My friend moved out to Gonzales becasue of the schools and moved back to BATon Rouge because her kids got bullied and no one did anything about it-I am sure this was an isolated incident just something to think about!

How the hell can you deside if a neighborhood is bad from looking to see if the vehicles have the big "bling" rims? That was very racist comment. I went the a 90% white high school with most of them with rich parents and they had this "bling" that you mentioned. Were they thugs? I know doctors, lawyers, and buisness men with the same "bling"! Are they thugs? I'm an Engineer and one of my vehicles has rims, I guess I'm a thug also. Pl
some peole just like to make their car look good. How bout you say what you really want to. Any neighborhood with any blacks is "unsafe"!

For future reference, there is a reply button that will display the comment you are referring to, along with your response.

Where to begin?

If you perceive me as a racist, I don't care. Most white people got over the "R" word a few years ago.

Do all those lawyers, doctors, and businessmen with whom you share your circle also have knee-high weeds, trash in the yard, and a generally trashy looking neighborhood to go along with their shiny, attractive rims?

You are blasting me for making the generalization about rims but you go on to make the generalization that doctors, lawyers, and engineers = superior people.

And as far as race, you brought that up. Not me. If you feel as strongly as you present yourself, you will have no problem looking through all of my posts on the Baton Rouge forum and finding those where I mention the respectable black neighborhoods of Villa del Rey and Concord Estates. Happy Hunting
