We lived at the Oaks of Kingsbridge when we first moved to BR in late '78. I actually worked for the management company back then, Bayou Management. The apartments were fairly new at that time and it was a great place to live. Have no idea what the current situation is.
Didn't you say you wanted an apartment close to LSU? Why are you looking at Sherwood Forest?

You had mentioned The Warwick on Jefferson. There are a couple more in that general area, but I don't know the names. It's a very nice part of town. Nearby grocery shopping includes Calvin's, Whole Foods, Hi Nabor, and an Albertson's.
Just a little further away, but even closer to LSU would be Old Towne apartments on College Drive. They're managed by the same company as The Warwick.

All 4 are slightly older apartments (they seem to have been built in the 70s/early 80s) but are not slums. I personally like Sherwood Acres the best of those 4 you chose because it's near middle/upper middle income subdivisions (Parkview Oaks and Lake Sherwood Acres). Willow Bend and Forestwood are next door and I recall they had washer dryers in the apartments. They're in a slightly marginal area, though, as there are duplexes and Section 8 apartments nearby on Cedarcrest. Oaks Of Kingsbridge has the disadvantage of Sherwood Forest traffic, which is AWFUL in the afternoon. And there are apartments down the street from this complex which are a bit marginal.
But these apartments are better than, say, something on Florida or Blvd De Province.

Other apartments
One more thing - there are a couple more apartments nearby which are OK: (1) Edgewood on Stumberg Lane, and (2) Castlebrook on Sherwood near Coursey. Plus, they've built some newer complexes on Stumberg near Tiger Bend which are quite nice. Anyway, the URL below is a good search page for BR apartments I found:

I was in the Sherwood Forest/Coursey Blvd. area today shopping two nurseries on Coursey. Can't imagine choosing that part of town with all the traffic if LSU is your priority.
