Both are great in town, but Verizon is better as you get 'into the wild'.....

Any comments on Sprint? Got 12 years with them, hate to have to change now...

I spent a week in Bend last month and my sprint phone worked fine during my travels, including mt bachelor and elk lake area's where I sent text messages.

There were some area with little or no signal. I don't know if that was just sprint or other carriers drop out too?

If I move to Bend I will keep my Sprint service. Particularly as long as they keep the unlimited data plan.

Don't get T-Mobile. They drop when you get outside of bend and into sunriver/ and the cascade lakes.

Yep. My wife has a phone Virgin Mobile and has no problems at all with it. She pretty much gets a signal everywhere I do and I have Verizon. VM runs on the Sprint network.

I have Verizon and though expensive I do usually have a signal and 4G available.

Best to worst (for Bend and surrounding areas)
Us Cellular
Verizion
AT&T
Sprint
T-Mobile

There are a host of other VMNO (virtual mobile network operators) These like boost, virgin mobile, straight talk, simple mobile and a host of many others all use the major players towers.
List of United States mobile virtual network operators - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I have a MVNO called Airvoice, It uses AT&T...... I have it only because I get service for my iPhone for only $10 for 30 days of service (.04 voice, 0.2 text, 0.7 data) and it rolls over... it is a great plan only if you are a light user.
