The rent you can afford is going to severely limit where you can live.

I've got two old mobile homes, built in the 1970's that are bringing $950 a month in rent, and I was overwhelmed with applicants-- like over 100 people called on the ad. (sorry, not available; they are both rented)

For $800 a month, you are going to end up in one of the big apartment complexes, with a small apartment. Or else, you could look in Redmond, where you will get a little bit more for your money.

There are no bad areas of Bend. You can get to anywhere from any neighborhood. All the schools are good, as long as parents stay involved enough to notice whether or not the kids are attending class and doing their homework.

There are a few little areas that look "poverty" but they are very small, a few blocks, and very obvious when you look at them. Even those don't count as bad areas.
