What is Bend doing to fix its schools, get rid of meth, improve its medical care, become GLBT friendly, and bring good paying jobs to the county?

Overall, what is Bend doing so that it can decouple its financial ties with rich transient, or seasonal, residents, of the Willamette Valley and California?

Despite its growth of second home owners and retirees, Bend remains just like any other anti growth city in rural Oregon. If it were not for rich tourists and trust funders, the city would economically be just like Klamath Falls or Dreadford. When the next housing recession strikes, without self sufficiency and good paying jobs, Bend will become like those places.

In the southwest, we have tourist towns like Carlsbad, Temecula, Thousand Oaks, and Irvine and Newport Beach, that do very well since they have permanent jobs, biotech, info tech, and so on, they are very resilient. Newport Beach unemployment rate is just 2%
