Thanks. I treat everyone with respect and courtesy regardless, so I'm not expecting issues. Although I will be worried at first about all my blonde haired blue eyed boys getting bullied (I have an Asian daughter though adopted from China. Maybe she'll help us be a little more accepted )

Investing in some martial arts classes for the kiddo's might be a good investment.

That's actually not a bad idea. Culture, discipline and self defense

Hopefully not necessary to be used though. But let's face it, mainland kids are mean in school, just for the sake of picking on someone. (Without an ancient history of their kingdom being overthrown.....added to the mix.) My kids are very well mannered though - they would never incite/provoke anyone. But some of them are kind of pansies because I have sheltered them so much So it's still a good idea. Thanks.

Hawaii presents an interesting twist to prejudice. Don't make the jump that "local" is always equated with "Hawaiian". Many of the troublemakers don't have a drop of Hawaiian blood. And Kealakehe has had a particular racial tension involving students that are NOT Hawaiian (or haole) for many years. It is well know by the admin, but the DOE tends to not be proactive.

Meanwhile, for a musical journey on the lighter side:

Yea just to add. The events at the high school did not have anything to do with racial tensions against white people. It seems it was Micronesians vs "locals", and it was just silly fist fights nothing horrible.

I was taken aback that the admin would single out a racial group in a news interview (WHT), to what purpose was that? It seemed to me to be an aim at distracting attention away from the school admin's lack of oversight.

You are not too far off! From today's newspaper: Apparently, one student involved in the previous day’s incident felt she was still being taunted and teased and began screaming and yelling, ...That “behavior,” ..., “triggered” other students to fight. [Admin is letting the public know there were no injuries or weapons.]
