I agree with all of the above posters except the OP.

As someone who lived in the FLL area for 30 years and now lives in Hilo, I'm well qualified to respond. However, I'd find a "Kona vs. the Moon" discussion to be much more productive.

Pahoa vs. Daytona Beach?

Volcano vs. Cape Coral?

When will the stupidity end?

Beaches - Fort Lauderdale (Hilo isn't a beach area).
Weather - Fort Lauderdale, even though it's humid. Hilo is known for rain. (I'd be happy with either one though).
Food - Fort Lauderdale (bigger city)
Activities - Fort Lauderdale (bigger city)
Music - Fort Lauderdale (bigger city)
Scenery/Palm Trees - Hilo (more rural)

I LIKE HILO. But Hilo is a little town of less than 100K people. Fort Lauderdale is a big city within an even larger metro region of Miami.

If you are going to compare things like food, activities, etc. The significantly larger city is always going to win.

(If you aren't getting a lot of responses, it's because you're asking a question like 'what's better for food, activities, music, etc. - San Diego, CA or Alpine, CA')?
