This is secondhand but a Nanawale resident said they talked to HELCO and was told that some areas of Nanawale should have power today (8/20). I think a large portion of the HELCO count of customers still without power is Nanawale.

I hope they're right. From what has been said so far, once the main supply line into the sub has been fully restored, the distribution out to the affected homes should go faster.
Meanwhile, while Puna has been garnering most of the attention, in their mid-day update Helco announced that power had finally been restored to 100 homes in Pahala, Ka'u, and Discovery Harbor...

Hawaii Electric Light on Tuesday restored service to approximately 100 customers in Discovery Harbor, Keaau, and Pahala Village – areas that lost power as a result of Tropical Storm Iselle. At this time, 99 percent of Hawaii Island customers now have power.
An estimated 1100 customers remain without power. Nearly all of these customers are in Nanawale Estates, Vacationland, and Kapoho Beach Lots, where electrical line crews are focusing their efforts and expect to make more progress today.
Annnnnnnd here's HELCO's two-weeks later Tropical Storm Iselle restoration update as of mid-day 8/21/2014... 800 left to go, nearly all in Nanawale...

Certainly hope not for customers sake.. I think HELCO is doing great with the resources they have and power will be up for every one by end of next week.
I have made a prediction...
My predication was correct "by end of next week which today is Thursday" - Nanawale has power - Helco called me and said that everyone should have power restored and if not to call them, but as far as they know it has all been restored in Nanawale.

Yayyyyy!!! That's fantastic! I know it's been an ordeal, and there's still more to deal with... I've been hearing about how some need to repair or replace septic systems, etc... but getting the power back on is the biggie for most folks.
Wooo hooo! HELCO's update today is that they are down to only 200 remaining homes without power!

Hawaii Electric Light on Thursday completed repairs to all of the major damage Tropical Storm Iselle caused to the electric system in subdivisions in the Puna District.
Electric line crews today are focused on a number of smaller outages, each affecting small pockets of customers, scattered across the following areas: Ainaloa, Hawaiian Acres, Fern Acres, Hawaiian Beaches, Hawaiian Paradise Park, Hamakua, Kalapana, Leilani Estates, Nanawale Estates, Orchidland Estates, and Upper Puna. In total, an estimated 200 customers remain out of power.
But let's not forget, to those last couple of hundred folks without power, this is pretty brutal, so lets keep them in our hearts and minds... and also let's not forget, for some the recovery from all their damage will take a long, long time.
"The State of Hawaii's request for a major disaster declaration due to Tropical Storm Iselle was denied today by Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator W. Craig Fugate."
"The request sought Individual Assistance for individuals and households affected by the tropical storm in early August and Hazard Mitigation funds for use in statewide projects."
"Administrator Fugate's denial letter states: “it has been determined that the damage from this event was not of such severity and magnitude to be beyond the capabilities of the state, affected local governments, and voluntary agencies.”
Hawaiian Telco announced today that 1,600 of their customers still don't have service...

The 1,600 customers are without landline phone or Internet service, or both, the Hawaii Tribune-Herald reported.
Service is expected to be restored for most by mid-September, but it could be longer for Nanawale Estates, Nishida Fry said.
"Nanawale was the most heavily impacted by the storm, and right now, we're assessing the best approach to restore service to customers," she said.
Nishida Fry didn't give an estimated date for service restoration in Nanawale. Crews were working on restoring service in Hawaiian Beaches, Leilani Estates and Hawaiian Paradise Park, she said.
