"Steve Strauss is teaming up with a British airship builder with the goal of bringing a lava ferry system to lower Puna.
The helium-filled balloon would be positioned 400 feet in the air above the lava flow and would be attached to a winch system, similar to a ski gondola.
Strauss says up to 25 passengers at a time could catch a ride from one side of the flow to the other."

June 27th flow is at an all time low for lava output:

Steve from HVO reviews the flow rates since June 27 in last nights video (starts at 20:50 in video):
http://youtu.be/y1fbn3Y4MsM?t=20m50s

Peak lava discharge in August (700 gal/sec or 2.5 cubic meters/sec)
- 12/18/14 discharge rate at 60% of August peak (420 gal/sec or 1.5 cubic meters/sec))
- 1/6/15 lava discharge rate at <50% of August peak (290 gal/sec or 1.1 cubic meters per sec)

Was it 5 miles, up hill, both ways, barefoot and in the snow?
If so, we might all 3 be siblings!
