What's with this punatic nickname i so often hear? Alaska has similar reputation and that's because it's frontier and criminals run there. What's the story with Puna?

Hi all, I am thinking about buying an oceanfront lot in Puna. But with such high premium for oceanfrontage, I am concerned about lava overflowing into sea, creating new land and taking away my oceanfrontage. Is that a valid concern?
Just think how much more land you will have in a few years....

Alaska IS a frontier (lived there 15+ years). But criminals run everywhere. In Alaska, criminals steal drugs, guns, cash, and electronics. In Puna criminals steal drugs, guns, cash, water pumps, kitchen cabinets, generators, chainsaws, and weed whackers.

Everybody I know defines Punatic as somebody who is enthusiastic about living in Puna. Nothing more, nothing less.
