Terracore or anyone else that moved to the Big Island from Honolulu, what trucking company did you use? I have been calling all kinds of companies that don't want to bring me a 20 ft shipping container to my house for us to pack and then take it to Young Bros. to ship to Hilo. They are not interested, they don't reply to emails or return phone calls. I get the feeling that the moving companies have a monopoly here in Honolulu. I can't afford what they are quoting me, we need to pack it all ourselves and just pay for the container rental and trucking not by the pound. The Young Bros. office is the same way won't even give me a list of possibilities. There are lots of people in Hilo who will take it to Pahoa for us no problem.

Try Expediters Hawaii in HNL. If they can't help you they might know somebody who can. On the Hilo side I recommend Conens.

I'm not sure if this would be relevant to you but we just moved from CA to the Big Island and used Matson. They dropped off the 20' container in front of our house and we had 3 days to load it up and then they picked it up. They only deliver to Kawaihai. We contracted with Royal Hawaiian Movers to pick it up in Kawaihai, drop off at the new place in Kapaau and then returned the container back to Kawaihai once we unloaded it. Matson bill was about $5,900 and Royal Hawaiian was $350. I guess my point is, if you are having a hard time finding someone to do the drop off and delivery in HNL, Matson does that for you. Once you are in the Big Island, there are plenty of carriers to finish the job. Connen (Transport?) is out of Hilo so they would be a good one to contact. Good luck and post back so we know how it went.
