That's a little dramatic. The flow threatened to cut off Pahoa (literally split it in two), not "cover it". [/url]
You'll never really know. Build a statue of Mr Lee and his Caterpillar in Pahoa.

That's a little dramatic. The flow threatened to cut off Pahoa (literally split it in two), not "cover it". You can take a drive past the transfer station and see how narrow the flow actually was. But for those who don't want to:

That's a little misleading. While I agree that the flow did not "cover" Pahoa (and please look up "hyperbole"), it went much further than your map. The second branch in Feb-March 2015 was larger than the transfer station branch, even though it did not reach the town either.

You mention you're an RN.
The hospital here has some kind of visiting nurse program. I'm not sure what all they pay--rent? flights?--but it would be a way to have a job when you get here.

If possible, can you leave your pets on the mainland for a month or more? That would let find a house before bringing them over.

We sold a Jeep to a gal who came to work on the BI as a temp nurse (she used the term "travel nurse". She worked for this company (they paid travel, per diem etc). This is not an endorsement of the company because I know thing about them other than what I just typed: https://www.nursesrx.com/

I almost tagged along with a nurse who wanted to do this back in the mid 90s for 6 mos. One of the biggest regrets in my life was not going. She had the opportunity to have her rent paid and make a nice wage at the time.
