Hello ~ I visited the Big Island this summer and this will probably sound silly but I would like to know the name of an Ice Cream Shop in Captain Cook that I loved going to. It was next to the Manago Hotel and in a parking lot with a pizza place. Does anyone know the name of this place? They had an ice cream flavor called the volcano....it included if I remember correctly banana, strawberry, mango, and oreo cookie. I thought it would taste weird but I fell in love and became addicted to it. I don't know if I'm missing any flavor.....does anyone else know? I'd like to try making it myself at home since it's probably unlikely that I'll get to go back to that place.

I'm going to the big island in November. We are staying Holualoa. We will be traveling around a bit. The ice cream sounds interesting. I will try to find it for you. You could also call/email the hotel and see if they can give you the name. If I find it I will post after we return.

Just for the fun of it--let's revive the first post done on this Big Island board in 2006.

Ice cream in Captain Cook: The place mentioned is gone. But the ice cream culture is still thriving and much alive here!

There's great ice cream in the Antique store btw Greenwell Farms/First Hawaiian Bank. And another ice cream parlor right across from it. Try both and you'll have a hard time to chose which one is better.

We like the ice cream served at Blue Dragon in Kawaihae.
