Once I get there next week I'll need to get the screen replaced on my laptop. Is there a reliable computer repair shop that does the work locally in Hilo? I don't want to ship my computer off to some repair shop and have a lot of down time for a repair that only will take a few hours once the parts are in.

Also looking for a camera shop that will do a cleaning on my camera and a couple of lens. Again I'd rather support the local guy that does the work in his/her shop.

Thanks

Parts availability may be an issue. If possible, you may want to have it replaced before you get here.

I would if I had the time. I've got a million little loose ends I have to tie up and still do the normal work day stuff. The parts will have to be ordered no matter where and shipped in, and delay and then I'm paying for parts that won't be here before I leave. I realize it will cost more due to the shipping to HI but that's ok.

What brand of laptop? That may help in figuring out where to go. Also, a replacement screen could cost almost as much as a new laptop. That may be a good option?

It's a HP Pavilion. the screens are $150 online. I could do it myself but since it's my source of income I don't mind paying for a pro to fix it right the first time and probably in less time than I could.

Thanks. I was looking more for a personal recommendation for quality of service vs looking at a listing in the phone book. I like shopping with a quality local guy, so always ask around when I get to a new location.

I was at the Computer Store this weekend to get a power cord for my laptop (I'd left my other one in Waimea). They took good care of me and even followed up today with an email answering my question about something I may need to have ordered. I bought my laptop there--haven't had any problems, so I can't say how they would handle something like that, but they are my first stop when I have a question...

We've liked the Falcon Computers up in Waimea but we've only used them once for a hard drive repair.
