Come on man YOU deal with it...just bury it out back if you must....I can't imagine keeping a dead bird in the freezer that long...not for me,...not for no-one.....seems a bit bizzare

I'm not clear on whether the bird is in your freezer or your friend's. If it's in yours, I would take it to your friend and give your sympathies again on the bird's passing and give her the envelope.

I know this must be really frustrating for you, but it's obviously very, very hard for her.

Call around about cremation. Let her know that you would take the bird to cremated if she will pay for it. Then bring her the cremains in a nice box.

Since it's not in your freezer I'd fogetaboutit. However, if it is in your refridgerator I'd bury the darn thing and then fogetaboutit.

Why would you care what killed your bird? It is dead. Finding out why will not bring it back to life. Go get another one. Cockatiels are cheap. Thing about pets is - they die. Paying someone to chop up their remains and guess as to the cause will not help anyone.

Try reading the whole thread. It is NOT his bird, it is the neighbor's bird which died while his daughter was pet-sitting it.

I am reminded of a George Carlin quote: "When you buy a pet, it is like purchasing a small tragedy".

Really. I can always tell who the "bird people" are and who are the folks who have no clue about avian husbandry.

Yes, Cold, read the whole thread. Necropsies are important, and sometimes required by state law, in pet birds. Ever hear of West Nile?

Also, your characterization of any creature as "cheap" speaks volumes about how you regard pets. Please don't ever get one.

What a negative way to approach owning a pet. You obviously have never owned a pet and felt the unconditional love and joy they bring.

The owner of the bird is a somewhat fragile and lonely individual,The bird meant a lot to her, i dont have the heart to just shove the dead bird in her face and say lets bury the damn thing (yet). However that said your advice is appreciated as it is one option among many others and is probably the way its going to go at the one year mark..
