The amazon's that I am familiar with are not all that large.
Ours, which looks very much like this photo below, is still a finger bird as far as picking her up goes. She is easy to carry on our hand.
We inherited her along with a Macaw from an aunt. The Macaw is a handful and I have one finger permanently disfigured from a bite from her powerful jaws. The Amazon is sweet in comparison and has less powerful bite, or perhaps she is just less aggressive. The few little nips I have gotten from her were not all that much. She didn't get handled much when she was younger as the aunt preferred the Macaw, so the Amazon would still rather we not handler her much. But she is a sweet little bird, makes happy noises at night when my wife covers the birds. She likes to sit in the window in the afternoons watching the wild birds outside and making happy sounds.
