Which one do you prefer, say Orange Winged Amazon/Lilac Crowned Amazon VS. Blue Crowned Amazon? And, why?

I like Amazons personally. They tend (not always) to be better talkers and more affectionate than conures (IMHO).

However, conures are not as messy and destructive. Conures take up less cage space.

Each has it's pluses and minuses. All comes down to personal preference.

I thought Orange Winged Amazon have a reputation of being a biter, but that's not the case with Blue Crowned Conure.

Generally, Orange Wings are not the best of Amazons as pets. I have one with a large vocabulary but I cannot touch him without a net or a towel.

Blue crowned conures are usually very nice pets. Obviously, an Amazon parrot will need a bigger cage than a conure would. All comes down to personal preference.

Did you have him since a baby?

Really? A Blue Crowned conure is much longer than an Amazon though with its long tail and all.

I hatched my Orange Wing and handfed him from day 1. He is about 7 years old now and has a larger vocabulary than my Blue Front Amazon that I also hatched/handfed.

Blue Crowns have a smaller body that an Amazon, just have the long tail that makes them look bigger. When I think of small Amazon parrots, the Tucuman and Spectacled Amazons come to mind.
