Im transitioning from a military career to civilian life after 15 years of military. Ive decided that I want to move somewhere Ive never been or lived and that I can continue my caeer in the healthcare field. I have a 6yr old son that I heve to include in my decisions. I have no idea where is a good location to live that are close to renowed hospitals. I am on a budget of rent >1000. Im looking for a good school district one due to my son adjusting to a different structure of learning. I'm looking for a nice spaciuos 2 bedroom apartment or townhouse which many of those are not listing on any of the apartment sites. I was looking on sites and need your opinion on The Springs @ Greystone on Cahaba Valley Rd. But I want to know what area of the city that is middle class people with over average crime, so site ask about areas of the city to live southeast, northeast, etc. birmingham. Thanks for everyone help ahead of time.

Do anyone know of any townhouse apartment complexes?

Thank you for serving our country.

I don't know about too many apartments, but there are plenty of good search engines out there that should narrow your choices down for you. That being said, $1,000 will get you a really nice place, particularly at a time when apartment complexes are dealing. At the same time, Birmingham has a very strong healthcare economy, so you will almost certainly find plenty of opportunities here. And, your hunch is right. The schools out in Greystone are very good.

My only caution has to do with the long potential commute down highway 280 towards where most of the hospitals in the downtown area. I a assuming that you are a single parent, and Cahaba Valley Road is quite a ways out. I might suggest something a little closer in town on 280, such as the Cahaba Heights area. The schools are excellent, the crime is non-existent, and the commute is a lot more bearable.

Here's one I found that I know people have liked: River Place on the Cahaba Apartments in Birmingham, AL | Apartments.com

The location for this one is also terrific: Grand Highland at Mountain Brook Apartments in Birmingham, AL | Apartments.com

Good luck on your search.
