If the city was actually awarded an NBA expansion team or relocated team, what would you like them to be called?

I don't think Birmingham is likely to get a team anytime soon but it isn't because the area couldn't support one. Birmingham was one of only about 6 or 7 metro areas around the country that doesn't have a franchise in one of the four pro leaguesthat could support a team in every professional league with the exception of baseball. This was according to a 2009 study which showed that Bham had the cumulative buying power that met 3 (NFL, NBA, NHL) of the 4 pro sports leagues criteria

Bham, for example, has more money and buying power than Buffalo, NY which has both an NFL and am NHL franchise

I'd choose either of these two names:

Birmingham Ironheads
Birmingham Ironmen

What about you guys? And which of those two names would sound better?

Wouldn't Matter. Next team is going to Seattle or Kansas City.

Seriously? Personally, I would rather be mauled by badgers than attend an NBA game, but what does somebody from Brazil know about Birmingham?

Those sound like semi-pro team names.

IMHO Bham lost out by not going for the Atlanta hockey team that moved to Winnipeg. Bham has proven support for professional hockey in past and does actually better at supporting sports such as soccer and hockey which are are a bit against the grain of the college football culture. Let's face it, the fans in the state of Alabama are spoiled when it comes to traditional sports like football and basketball.....sports where a team is expected to lose a fair number of games does better in Birmingham. Wish city could have taken advantage of relative low cost of capital in recent years and built public/private venture venue.... a unique structure like a 50,000 seat retractable roof arena / convention center suitable for real grass (retractable roll, away real grass) MSL soccer, baseball, hockey, football. The technology is there for affordable retractable roofing with accomodations for the above and for convention floor
space / meeting halls all in the same building. If Nashville Predators or New Orleans Hornets ( just signed new deal with NO Arena Ibelieve ) or Charlotte Bobcats get in trouble again soon Bham should go after one of those franchises

For whatever franchise Bham may get I always thought Birmingham Beauty would be unique and interesting name that would play on the topographical beauty of the area as well as the attractiveness of its people.

Carpe

Birmingham Mulcibers or Birmingham Hammers could be good names if an NBA team came to Birmingham.
