Thanks again Bravo!

Socal, did you even look at my post?

Reminds me of my inlaws who moved here from NY. They would tell their family back in Rochester how they couldn't get good Italian food here or good bread. I finally asked them what Italian restaraunts they'd tried here.....Olive Garden. I asked if they had every tried so-and-so, "no". How about so-and-so? "no" on and on. I asked what bakeries they had tried for bread.....Winn Dixie.

So what right did they have going and telling the world that something doesn't exist in B'ham when they haven't even tried to find it?

Silly

Baltimore and Washington are clear-cut violators of the "150 rule." So are NYC and Philadelphia.

Yeah, I understand about New York and Philly being #1 and #4 TV markets, respectively...

And come to think of it, the Baltimore-Washington proximity did cause a big flap each time a new team dared to violate the other city's space — witness baseball's Nationals and football's Ravens/old Browns/Modells.

Anyway, as a current resident of Columbus, Ohio (which will also never get a pro team in a real sport like football or baseball)...I understand your frustration! College football here rules the roost, and always will. Pro sports fans in this area will have to be content with hockey and «gag»...soccer!

Hey, at least for college football, y'all have a couple of awesome SEC teams to root for! Big Ten football is completely overrated and sucks. The SEC is the crown jewel of the college game!

ROLL TIDE...

Wow dude, you sure "stepped in it" with some folks here on that post.

But if I may offer a personal observation or two...

First, your description above actually fits my tastes and attitudes to a tee! It's like you just described me, and the people I grew up with...

Granted, you can't paint any state or city with such a broad brush any say everyone's like that. But still, to the extent that your comments are true about Alabama...it sounds like I'd fit in w/lots of good company there!!

Oh, just one other thing...when it comes to sports, what about NASCAR?!?!

Go Tony Stewart #20!!!

Very common..."I can't find XYZ in Birmingham" like Italian food and here's restaurant owned by an Italian-American from NYC....

Birmingham Restaurant: Profiles - GianMarco

I really get sick of it...the stereotyping is incredible. While at the same time, those who live here and really investigate the metro - love it!!!

I think the only thing that would do well in Birmingham would be an NBA team. Football lies within the heart of Alabama and Auburn, a few UABers and Troy Staters here and there, and baseball is a Braves thing. The NBA however I think would have the best standing chance to prosper.
