Thinking of moving to the Pell City area and just wondered what others thought about it and if there's others on here that might live in that area.

Depends on what you are looking for. If you want a relatively small place that is growing somewhat that is an exurb on the fringe on the metro area, then Pell City is for you.

That's kinda what I'm looking for. I'm tired of big city living but been doing it so long, I want to be prepared for what's happening in Bama anymore. Mostly I'm just looking for people's thoughts on that area, good bad or neutral. I grew up there, but I've been gone for 15 years and wondering what I'd be moving back into if I was there now.

How's employment? Crime? Schools? What is or isn't coming soon (Some hospital and a theatre maybe?)

There's a Wal-Mart Supercenter in addition to several chain restaurants and hotels off the main I-20 exit now that weren't there 15 years ago.

Other than yet, the downtown area and the town part looks pretty much the same.

Although it is not a bad area, Pell City seems like an area you had to grow up in to like.

I would love to live in Pell City! It's a quaint city with a small amount of growth. The lake is a great attraction as well. Plenty of restaurants and business. You might want to look in B'ham for work however. Many people make the 30 minute commute to work in B'ham and live in Pell City. Many executives live on the lake and many retire to the lake...

Well I was born and grew up there, but have been gone for many a moon. Back when I was a kid, it was a very small town, some 3,000 residents. It was slow, but it was peaceful, everyone knew everyone else which can be either good or bad, depending on how you view it.. But I loved it. I wish I could find another small town, but Pell City has grown leaps and bounds since I was a kid back in the 50s
