Where can I find someone to look at it? Are there any businesses in town that can look at it for me?

granted this is just a message board.... but i picked up on a few grammatical errors in your posts.... if you are making the same kind of errors in your resume and cover letters, that can be a flag to a potential interviewer / employer..... it was for me when i was looking for employees.....

I do not have spell check on IE. I check the messages to recruiters or employers for grammer and spelling. I do not try to check message board or any kind of blog or personal email like I do official messages because it would take too much time. On boards like this, I just write like I would speak.

I got a call from one of the newer firms in town. They told me that in December companies do not hire much if not laying off. Usually, January is when they get their budgets. Also, I got a feel of what I am qualified for which does not supprise me: AP, AR, accounting assistant, computer help desk, and especially anything involving ad hoc reporting. One piece of advice was a teller position if things were that bad. I do not like the idea of working in a branch for safety reason, but Compass does have openings at its HQ and I have seen openings for Regions at the HQ branch too, so these would be safe since I have seen both these HQ's branches and they have armed guards (Regions is even in an atrium/mini mall kind of area). Of course, she did not tell why other firms have ignored me and I didn't ask. I will lay off anything rash until the middle of February.

Absolutely not. I love to work. People who know me say that I am clearly much happier when I am working. I have an obsession with sucess which I measure in "respect" instead of money. I have done low skilled work before and it doesn't bother me. I am affriad of putting myself in a position against someone that is not acting rationally. That is why I focus on internal positions. The problem is not getting interviews in general. The problem is not getting "in state" employment agencies to place me. The kind of work that would involve internal positions would be placed through them. I get calls from out-of-state agencies for in state jobs, and in the past 30 days got a call from CB Richard Ellis and Compass Bank through direct hires which are very competitive. I know people that are "affraid to work" and I do not think like them. I have no problem working my way up and want the independence. Some people that do not know me well first think "he is afraid to work" or "professional student" until they see that I am applying like crazy for all sorts of work. Then I get what out-of-state recruiters, direct hire recruiters, and myself say which is "I don't understand why you are having problems?"

I am taking Threestep's advise and going to see what kind of resumes are being used now. I will tailor myself to the current resume style(s) instead of the resume to me.

Yes. About half of my applications have been turned down, but others are still going. I thought that withdrawing from applications that were turned down would remove them from the list given on my account. Granted, this is only Compass and I keep a campaign going 5-7 days a week to try to get something going.

Of course, this is a direct hire and not the problem I am having with all 8 (not 6 as I thought but 8) employment agencies in town that I am registered with. The phone interview was for the marketing specialist position which I doubt I will get. About half of those that I applied for I did not expect to at least be called in for and it was suprising that I got a call for the marketing specialist since it was in the long shot catagory.
