Are you sure there aren't grammatical errors in your applications? That's the only thing I can think of that would get the quick discard.

No, I check over everything in it. The only thing I do not do check is text boxes such as this blog.

???????

There is a job opening. I apply. I do that with any job I see that I think I am at least qualified for. If you are saying that pisses people off, then I may have part of the problem. I contact my recruiters once a week or every other week.

First off I think you need to narrow your search and tailor your resume for a specific position.
You are all over the place man.
Then you should spend a little cash and see a resume pro or career pro and look at your resume, interview skills etc.. I think you mentioned you were already doing that.
Third I would not settle on less than you are qualified for unless you have no choice. It is tough out there now so keep trying.

Of course, this is a direct hire and not the problem I am having with all 8 (not 6 as I thought but 8) employment agencies in town that I am registered with. The phone interview was for the marketing specialist position which I doubt I will get. About half of those that I applied for I did not expect to at least be called in for and it was suprising that I got a call for the marketing specialist since it was in the long shot catagory.
:>))) You should at least know the name of the employer you target. Read the job descriptions. You do not qualify but for a handful of these jobs. PeopleSoft retains application information and batches it amongst other functions by applicant. BBVA recruiting is modeled after the old Regions system (including staff).

Even field recruiters have a workload. Unless you bring something to the table you just take up time.

Created a new resume using a templete online called a "classical functional resume" by the site. Girlfriend, best friend, and one family member do not think it will help since I have had literally between 35 and 45 resumes in the past 4 years. Friends and family talked me into that something is seriously wrong and they do not want me to get sidetracked by another resume makeover. But it wouldn't hurt.

Been distributing my new resume. Also, I am taking the Security+ Exam since it is an asset toward SOX compliance. It may be more than I can handle since there is a significant amount of material on networking and I have having to learn much of that by scratch and not just filling in the gaps in knowledge.

I am going to have to try to get employment in other cities accross the country. I can no longer afford to accomidate the "Birmingham Only" of my girlfriend. She has an established position with a bank. I am still convinced (after being talking into it over about 2 years) that I am blacklisted by Birmingham agencies. I have only had limited jobs since I got into it with the branch manager of Accountemps. The only agencies that do place me are obscure ones and I get calls from out-of-state agencies and the rare calls directly from the employer.

I will not stop with the Birmingham search even if I get a position on the West Coast. I can not let these "people" (to use a nice word) get the best of me after 4 years. I could not live with myself if I did not keep on fighting until they break, but I need funds regardless. I have a local phone number and address for Birmingham and will censor the company name from my out-of-state job that out-of-state agencies have repeated I could get if I relocated since I DO NOT HAVE HIGH EXPECTATIONS (which people continue to assume until they see what I apply for and my qualification). If I loose my girlfriend, I am sueing since a long time friend of mine (one of the people talking me into that something is seriously wrong) has wanted me to retain him for 2 years now.

I have moved on, after 4 years, from the Birmingham area only. This will strain my personal relationship and may very well cause a breakup with my girlfriend that I would have married 2 years ago if I could find employment in the Birmingham area.

The recruiters I have talked to lately have expressed the same shock and dismay about the last 4 years record. Other cities have no problems with someone of my skills and education working. My lawyer and I will plan my next steps dealing with the Birmingham recruiters. Everyone on my end is in agreement that the practice of blacklisting exists in the Birmingham area. There is a psychology in the area with the population that government should stay away. But we have laws regardless and federal laws at that. People can not go around living in the way of "what I can get away with" as opposed to "what I am and am not allowed to do" especially when a number of other peoples lives are in the ballance.
